Church Notes

FREDERICKSBURG

The Young Women’s League of Shiloh Baptist Church (Old Site) will hold their first art show, featuring the art of high school and college students June 29, 3–5 p.m. The event is free and light refreshments will be served. Donations will be accepted for an art scholarship for students graduating in 2014.

First Christian Church, 1501 Washington Ave., will celebrate all June birthdays and anniversaries with cake after the single 11 a.m. worship service on June 30, which follows the all-ages Sunday school at 10 a.m. 540/373-7716; 1stchristianchurchfredva.org.

Mount Zion Baptist Church, 309 Wolfe St., will welcome the Rev. Carl Butler, associate minister of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Triangle as the speaker on June 30, Missionary Sunday, at the 11 a.m. service.

SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY

Trinity Bible Church, located in Regency Park at 6331 Campus Drive, will host a Missions Emphasis Weekend, June 29–30, with the Rev. Michael Sprague as guest speaker. He is president of Grace Adventure and author of “Stories From Katrinaland” and “Disaster: Betting the Farm on God in Life’s Storms.” On June 29, 6:30–8 p.m., Rev. Sprague will present “The State of Worldwide Missions.” On June 30 at 9:30 a.m., his sermon title will be “Game Changers in Worldwide Missions.”

Mount Olive Baptist Church in Partlow will celebrate Ushers Day on June 29 at 4 p.m. The Mighty Melody Makers from King George will be in full concert.

First Baptist Church of Love, Sylvania Heights, will celebrate Missionary Day on June 29 at 3 p.m. Guest speaker will be Evangelist Linda Hawthorne from Mount Olive Baptist Church in Stafford. The Spiritual Keys of Harmony will be the guest singing group. Lunch will begin at 1:30 p.m.

STAFFORD COUNTY

The Pastor’s Aide Ministry of Union Bell Baptist Church, 407 Hollywood Farm Road, Falmouth, will hold a service of “Fifty Women in White,” at 4 p.m. on June 29. Guest speaker will be Minister Louise Green of Spotsylvania, with special music by Vincent White of People’s Union Baptist Church in King George.

Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church off of State Route 218, will hold a Hat Program on June 30 at 4 p.m., given by Francine Carter. Participants may come and parade their favorite hat or hats. Music will presented by the church band, directed by Leon White. Refreshments will be served.

The congregation of Regester Chapel United Methodist Church, 85 Bells Hill Road, will welcome their new pastor, the Rev. Sung I. Yoo and his family on June 30 at the 10 a.m. service. Pastor Sung comes to Regester Chapel from Emmaus United Methodist Church in Richmond. 

The Men’s Fellowship of Mount Olive Baptist Church, 395 Mount Olive Road, will hold a prayer breakfast and worship service on June 29 at 9 a.m. for all men. Guest speakers will be the Rev. Ronald Rogers, the Rev. Ronald Cooper and the Rev. Reginald Bryant. On June 30 at 10:45 a.m., the pastor, the Rev. George A. Langhorne will preach and the Mount Olive Men will render the music. At 3 p.m. on June 30, the Men’s Fellowship will hold a Men’s Day worship service with the Rev. Henry P. During Jr. and Star Bethlehem Missionary Baptist church as guests. CAROLINE COUNTY

Third Mount Zion Baptist Church, 9132 Fredericksburg Turnpike in Woodford, will observe “First Lady Day,” honoring the Rev. Sonya Baker, on June 30 during the 11 a.m. worship service. Guest preacher will be the Rev. Kevin Sykes, pastor of St. James Baptist Church in Richmond. There will be music by the Anointed Voice of Third Mount Zion under the direction of Walter. L. Baker Jr.

St. Stephen’s Baptist Church, 29346 Sparta Road, Central Point, will hold a Four Season/Birthday Rally on June 30 at noon, featuring praise through song, dance and laughter. Talent will be presented for each season. After the program there will be a cookout. The event is sponsored by the Combined Choir of St. Stephen’s.

The Brotherhood Ministry of Long Branch Baptist Church, 14297 Long Branch Road, Woodford, will hold the Fifth Bike Blessing on June 30 during the 11 a.m. worship service. Pastor L. Tremayne Lacey will preach, and the bike blessing will follow the service. A cookout will begin right after the benediction. All bikers are welcome. 540/373-0690.

St. John Baptist Church, 17080 S. River Road, Woodford, will hold Youth Revival on June 30 at 8 a.m. and July 1 at 7 p.m. The guest preacher will be Rev. Tiont Williams of Richmond for both services. Ebenezer Baptist Church, Lignum, will hold the Youth Ministry Car Wash and Bake Sale June 29, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Culpeper Tractor Supply.
