Jaclyn Arquiette and Emma Alexander are Massaponax High School's valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, for 2006.

Jaclyn Arquiette is the daughter of Ralph and Deborah Arquiette. While at Massaponax High School she participated in varsity soccer and cross country, as well as Key Club and the Academic Team. She was president of the National Honor Society and vice president of the National Spanish Honor Society during her senior year. During the summer, Jaclyn took part in enrichment programs through the University of Mary Washington and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. Outside of school, she participated in church activities as well as community service, and was part of a mentoring program working with fourth grade students struggling with writing. Jaclyn earned many awards and scholarships, including the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship, NROTC Scholarship, the Optimist Club Student of the Month, the National Scholar Athlete Award, the Scholar Excellence Award and was an Early College Scholar and an AP Scholar with Special Distinction. She will attend Duke University this fall, studying mathematics and English, and hopes to later attend medical school.

Emma Alexander graduated from the Commonwealth Governor's School with a 4.455 grade point average, and received straight A's for every school year. She is a National Merit Finalist, as her SAT score placed in the top 0.5 percent of all test-takers. She received the Interdisciplinary Award, the AP English Award, and the Prometheus Award. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Latin Honor Society. Music is one of her passions, and she was a member of All Virginia Honors Choir, All District Choir, and All State Choir, placing first in the district out of all sopranos. She also plays piano, and has won numerous competitions including a second-place finish at state level. Emma also composes for piano and for choir, and the Massaponax Chamber Singers performed one of her pieces. She will continue her study of music at Dartmouth College in the fall.
